Hi, and welcome to my site!
My name is Patty Peterson, and I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. Six years ago, I put a small vegetable garden in the back yard. I grew tomatoes, beans, and squash.
Then 4 years ago (when the dog died),
I took over the back yard for vegetable gardening.
Discovering that I have a real passion for it — being outside, working the earth, watching things grow, and then feeding myself — the garden continued to grow. Last year, I finally outgrew the back yard, and have taken over the front.
This year (2013), I grew over 80 different varieties and crops, and have produced almost 500 pounds of food. All organically, of course!
Because I can’t shut up about my passions, I have been talking about the garden to anyone who will listen. Which led to several friends saying to me “Oh, I would love to put in a garden like that.” To which I reply” “I’ll help you!”
And the rest is history. I now assist, coach, mentor, cheerlead, and teach clients how to grow food in their own yards. I have experience with everything from watering to seasonal planting, to the best bug and pest (aka cat) deterrents. I’m not an expert, but I am a research nut, and I love to learn and then teach!
This blog is a way for me to share what is happening in my gardens, talk about the trials & tribulations, failures & victories, and maybe (just maybe), inspire you to plant some food in your yard, balcony or a pot on the windowsill!
